Lady Satan

Like her or loathe her, Lady Satan was probably the most successful of all the BWA women wrestlers. Satan started her career way back in the 1960`s when wrestling was in it`s prime. Women wrestlers were very much a novelty, but proving to be a huge draw to tournament billing. In the 70`s Lady Satan was ranked with Sue Brittain at the very top of the flourishing BWA sector. The legendary Sue places Satan as her ultimate toughest challenger.

Lady Satan is well known for her blatant disregard for the rules of professional wrestling. She used just about every illegal trick in the book to wear down her opponents. But underneath this façade, she was a true genius who loved her profession and knew how to wrestle and entertain to a very high degree.

She was a mistress when it came to exciting the fans. On many occasions she needed several burly bodyguards to escort her through the madding-crowd to the safety of the dressing rooms.

Although never declared, Satan did have a respect for any woman who dared to face up to her. However once in the ring she was totally merciless and would inflict severe pain on her helpless rivals. Lady Satan had a vast knowledge of holds and throws. Her specialities were always submissions, but would never miss the chance on a pin if the opportunity was there.

After many wrestling years behind her, Satan suddenly left the sport while at the top of her profession as BWA ladies champion.

Action Promotions tried on many occasions to tempt her back without success. However in February 1985, after almost five years, Lady Satan finally agreed to return to the ring amid great expectation. She did not disappoint her fans as she took on and defeated Jodie Lee in her debut contest. Lady Satan went on to wrestle the finest BWA ladies, often giving away a huge weight advantage to her much younger opponents. But Lady Satan proved again and again she was more than capable when it came to dealing with this challenge.

This amazing run of victories continued for the following two years, before this great lady of wrestling finally hung up her boots for the final time.

Lady Satan still had one final card to play, which was the introduction of Kelly Youngblood who later went on to find championship status.

A lot of mystery surrounds `Masked Wrestlers` and critics have always stated it a `gimmick`. But Lady Satan was the very first British female wrestler ever to wear a hood. The very fact that her identity remained secret all through a career that spanned twenty years as a professional wrestler, sums up this amazing woman`s skill, strength and tenacity.

Lady Satan was one of wrestling's true great characters and finest exponent.
